Good a reason for me to get rid of that ugly ass filter. I'm glad you got the problem fixed I hope it solves my problem also, 5 psi just ain't cutting it. I need some of that excitement back.
Those of you that have been following my story know that I have been plagued by low-boost syndrome from my turbonetics wastegate. Well... This morning I was fumbling around with some different settings and I replaced the generic cone filter DRAG gave me with a universal K&N one...
Went for a drive. Drove around for about 15-min just putsing around warming the engine up. Got to the last stoplight in town before it opens up to 70MPH highway.. It just turned red. I am first in line. Can you see where this is going...
The light turned green and I take off normally in 1st and get to about 2K RPM.. Then I slowly lay on the gas until it is floored. Well... The tach literally FLEW to redline like I couldn't believe. The needle actually couldn't keep up. I hit the rev-limiter before the in-dash tach got to 7500RPM. (LOL. I outran the tach.) I shifted to 2nd in a hurry and wasn't going anywhere except drifing to the side of the road.. "HOLY SH*T!!!" Then it kinda caught and HAULED to redline again.. Even the top of 3rd at like 6K RPM the tires were struggling to hold traction. I think a good comparison to the power is the acceleration in 3rd gear is roughly equal to the acceleration in 1st gear in a stock NA Gs-R.
Mixing this cold (40-50 degree F air) with 7.5psi of boost on top of 8K RPM VTEC is absolute 100% pure evil. Sorry guys, I just had to share cuz I just got back in and my hands are still shaking cuz that sh*t was so scary! I got my 7 pounds back!![]()

By changing the filter?
Damn, that's pretty good..
Wassup MarkC - Sounds like you're having a blast with your car- Just a little update! I finally got my hands on a freshly honed stock bore GSR block yesterday. Now all I need to do is drop off the bare block and my bottom end(still assembled) at the shop so they can swap all the parts to the new block. Already have 9:1 JE pistons ready to be installed. Also did a lot of little things while the motor was out. HPC coated the downpipe and dump tube, added a couple of extra vac. ports to the intake manifold, installing urethane motor mounts, using a steel braided line for the oil return line, wrapping the rest of the AC line with heat shealding, got rid of the A/F meter and got a Blitz EGT with warning light, etc, etc, etc. My car should finally be back together in about a week and a half(hopefully)

Why would you hone the block if you are going turbo? Are you planning on only boosting 10 psi? I'm having my block resleeved, costs but makes sure ur block will not go boom under higher boost.
Bryan
Sure did Erik. You were riight about them being WAYYYY behind in the articles.
Thanks for the update on your project there. I am slowly and surely getting my car exactly the way I want it. Can you even imagine running 15psi?!?! I CAN'T!!! My car has been running like a wild beast lately. This cold air and 7psi is craziness!
Well, my car already went "boom". I wasn't ready to build the bottom end(didn't have the money) so for now I'm just trying to get the motor back together. I was able to pick up a freshly honed block for $300 so I opted to use that block instead of sleeving mine. I plan to resleeve my damaged block later when I can afford to buy rods and do other work to the motor like a block gauard and other stuff. I'll always have an extra bottom just in caseI know people that have 10 and 11sec. daily drivers with only pistons and rods. Sleeving is safer but no necessarily something you have to have in order to run high boost. I plan on running between 10-15psi. Noting like 20+ I just read something today in the new Import Tuner. Read the article about the drag gen 3 civic Si. I think I told MarkC about this car making 280+ to the wheels over a month and a half ago.
